The 5th International Conference on Tropical Agrifood, Feed, and Fuel (ICTAFF 2025) is an international forum organized by the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Mulawarman, Indonesia. Since its first edition in 2018, ICTAFF has become a platform for researchers, academics, policymakers, industry professionals, NGOs, and community organizations to exchange knowledge and collaborate on sustainable tropical agriculture. The 5th ICTAFF, which will be held in November 2025 in Samarinda, East Kalimantan, carries the theme “Future-Proofing Food Systems: Responding to the Demand for Farmer Welfare in a Changing World.” This theme underscores the urgency of building inclusive and resilient agrifood systems in response to climate change, market volatility, and socio-economic transformation, particularly in the context of East Kalimantan’s strategic role as the site of Indonesia’s new capital (IKN).

Building on the success of the 2018, 2021, 2023, and 2024 editions, ICTAFF 2025 will feature keynote speakers from Malaysia, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, and Indonesia, alongside keynote sessions, parallel discussions, and networking opportunities. The conference focuses on critical issues such as food security, animal feed production, bio-based energy, and agrifood system resilience. By engaging diverse stakeholders, ICTAFF seeks to strengthen tropical agriculture, promote rural development, ensure environmental sustainability, and enhance farmer welfare. In doing so, the conference contributes to East Kalimantan’s transformation into a vital food-supplying region that supports the sustainability of IKN and Indonesia’s future food security.
